A new portion of Elon Musk's revelations about censorship on Twitter has been released. This time - about how Donald Trump was forced out of the social network.

Following an attempt to take over the Capitol on January 6, 2020, Twitter "faced tremendous pressure to ban former President Trump." But there were no formal reasons for this - the president did not incite violence. And in the end, social networks, after long internal disputes, decided that any public manifestations of Trump could be interpreted as calls for violence.

The head of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, was on vacation at the time, and the decision to block was made by Joel Roth, who is in charge of censorship.

The day before Trump's blocking, on January 7, Roth informed staff about the rule change: five violations would result in an indefinite ban. And already on January 8, Twitter announced the permanent closure of the president's account due to "the risk of further incitement to violence."

That is, for the sake of Trump, Twitter changed its rules, which the authors of the investigation interpret as double standards and interference in politics.
