The city of Vatutyno in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine, named after the Soviet General Nikolai Vatutin, is planned to be renamed, this was reported on the website of the city council of the settlement.

As specified in the press service, the issue of renaming will be submitted for consideration at the next session of the City Council, which will be held on December 22. Within two months, the administration received many proposals with variants of names. Most of them were connected with the area and the country as a whole. “The largest number of votes (206) was won by the name Bogachevo,” the city council stressed.

The press service added that Bogachevo is the name of the railway station, which is located in Vatutin.
