The approved bill to ban the structures of the ROC in Ukraine does not mean a ban on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). The head of the Servant of the People Parliamentary Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, Nikita Poturaev, refuted the opinion widespread in the Verkhovna Rada on his Facebook page (a social network banned in Russia; owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned).

According to him, the UOC is not part of the ROC. Moreover, he believes that the anti-Ukrainian materials revealed during searches at the facilities of the UOC do not indicate collaborationism on the part of these religious institutions.

“We call on the citizens and people’s deputies of Ukraine not to spread false information about the ban on the UOC or any other religious organization,” he said.

Earlier it was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted searches in 14 churches of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Kharkiv region. It is noted that among them there are 11 temples, two cathedrals and the Holy Intercession Monastery.
