Minsk is satisfied with the use of the Russian ruble in the settlements between Belarus and the Russian Federation. The head of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko, told reporters about this on the sidelines of the EAEU summit. His words are quoted by BelTA.

The President noted that Russia and Belarus were forced to abandon the use of the dollar in settlements against the backdrop of external events, but Minsk sees no problems in this. “When we were forced, I said: “Well, it’s okay, we are satisfied with the Russian ruble,” Lukashenka shared.

He also recalled that Minsk had long offered Russia to switch to the Russian ruble in payments for energy resources, but then it was decided to use the dollar. “And we had to earn this dollar in some unknown place and then pay for oil and gas,” the Belarusian president said, adding that today the country is satisfied with the currency of settlements.

Earlier, Lukashenko said that the conflict in Ukraine would not have happened if Kyiv had fulfilled the Minsk agreements. In this case, the country would retain its integrity, the president is convinced.
