Turkish diesel-electric submarine (DEPL) Piri Reis type 214 TN entered sea trials. The submarine was built at the Gölcük Naval Shipyard. Defense Turk writes about it.

The submarine received an air-independent power plant, which allows the submarine to swim without having to rise to the surface. The Piri Reis submarine was built for the Turkish Naval Forces (Navy) and launched in 2019. In total, Turkey plans to build six diesel-electric submarines of type 214 TN.

Type 214 TN submarines were developed on the basis of the German type 214 submarines, which are the export version of the type 212 submarines. These submarines received eight 533 mm torpedo tubes.
