The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, said that the Russian leadership will continue to insist on its participation in the investigation of the terrorist attacks on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. The diplomat said this during a briefing on December 8.

Zakharova stressed that the investigation should be comprehensive and open. In addition to the Russian authorities, the Gazprom company should participate in it.

“We proceed from the fact that only if this condition is met, its results can claim to be reliable and objective,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

On December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, said that the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines needed a transparent investigation with the participation of Russian specialized structures.

On September 26, damage and gas leaks were recorded on three strings of Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Seismologists recorded two explosions along the routes of gas pipelines. The FSB of Russia opened a case on an act of international terrorism. The Swedish prosecutor's office initiated an investigation into the incidents.

Gas pipeline operator Nord Stream AG said that it is not yet possible to estimate the timing of the restoration of gas pipelines.
