Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that the work of the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan to create a "tripartite gas union" continues from the point of view of the commercial side.

Earlier, Reuters quoted Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Zhorabek Mirzamakhmudov as saying that the gas agreement with the Russian side "does not mean an alliance." He clarified that Moscow and Tashkent were negotiating the supply of Russian gas through the territory of Kazakhstan, but it was a "technical contract" without political conditions.

Asked by journalists to comment on Uzbekistan's rejection of the idea of a "triple gas union" that the agency wrote about, Peskov said Reuters had misinterpreted the words of the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister.

“We know what was said. No one is talking about gas in exchange for political conditions in the context of this union. We are talking about the commercial side - in this regard, work continues, ”said the Kremlin spokesman.
