The security of the upgraded T-72B3M tanks, which were supplied to the Russian Ministry of Defense, was brought closer to the level of the T-90M. An improved version of the tank was evaluated in the publication of the American magazine Military Watch.

It is noted that the improved tank received additional dynamic protection units (DZ), which are installed along the entire body of the vehicle and on the turret. Also, DZ blocks covered the gun mask, smoke grenade launchers and fenders.

“If the latest upgrade package proves to be effective, the likelihood of which remains high due to the T-72B's great resemblance to the T-90, it could be widely implemented on more than 1,000 tanks,” the newspaper writes. The authors also suggested that the modernization may be of interest to countries that operate the T-72.

Earlier it became known that Uralvagonzavod supplied the Russian Ministry of Defense with a batch of modernized T-72B3M tanks. As a result of the improvement, the maneuverability of vehicles has improved, firepower and the level of security have increased.

In September, a Popular Mechanics publication noted that most of the tanks participating in the battles in Ukraine were outdated. The only exception is the Russian T-90M.
