Co-chairs of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party Tino Khrupalla and Alisa Weidel condemned the plans of a previously uncovered coup cell in Germany and called for a quick and comprehensive investigation. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the party, which provided the agency with a statement from its leaders.

“We, like most citizens, learned about the case today from the media. We condemn such aspirations and reject them. Now we should wait for the results of the investigation,” Khrupalla and Vaidel said.

The statement also said that the AfD demanded a "fast and comprehensive investigation"

Earlier it was reported that in Germany, on suspicion of participating in a conspiracy to seize power, a former deputy from the right-wing Alternative for Germany party, 58-year-old Birgit Malsack-Winkemann, was detained.

According to the German Attorney General's Office, the former Bundestag deputy was supposed to be in charge of the "department of justice" in the interim government, corresponding to the German Ministry of Justice - in case the alleged coup d'état had won.
