The Hungarian government will continue until December 15 to hold a national consultation on the imposition of sanctions against Russia. This was stated by the representative of the Hungarian Cabinet Alexandra Sentkirayi, RIA Novosti reports.

Initially, the consultation was supposed to last until December 9th. Residents of Hungary were asked to express their opinion on sanctions against oil, gas and coal of the Russian Federation. It was indicated that these restrictions, among other things, reduced the number of Russian tourists and the rise in food prices.

While referendums have a turnout threshold, there are none in the case of national consultations. As of early December, more than 1 million out of 10 million people in Hungary voted on this issue.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that sanctions on Russian gas would have disastrous consequences for the republic.
