In Germany, on suspicion of participating in a conspiracy to seize power, a former deputy from the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, 58-year-old Birgit Malsack-Winkemann, was detained, according to the website of the German Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the German Attorney General's Office, the former Bundestag deputy was supposed to be in charge of the "justice department" in the interim government, corresponding to the German Ministry of Justice - in case the alleged coup d'état took over.

Birgit Malsack-Winkemann worked in the legal field and was a legal judge in Berlin. She has been a member of the AfD since 2013, and became a member of the Bundestag from this party in 2017.

Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Germany denied contacts with those suspected of organizing a coup d'état.

German police conducted a special operation against alleged right-wing extremists. German police officers detained 25 people who were either members of an unnamed right-wing terrorist organization or supported it. It was reported that German special forces operated simultaneously in 11 states of Germany. Searches were carried out in more than 130 homes, offices and other premises.
