MEP from Ireland Claire Daly said that Ukraine will not be able to return the millions of dollars that the European Union allocated to it during the conflict. She said this during her speech in the European Parliament.

“There is a nightmarish shock therapy going on in the country, the sale of public land, the imbalance of the labor market, the sale of state assets and so on. The future of the country is being sold off to finance a proxy war that is tearing this state apart,” she said.

According to her, Ukraine has put itself in "neoliberal shackles" because a precondition for the support provided by Western countries is "the promotion of democracy in the country."

In addition, she reproached the EU for trying to continue the confrontation by any means, "while ordinary people are paying for it."

“Do not forget: war is a racket, and you will have to pay dearly for this conflict,” the deputy concluded.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the European Union could end up in a debt hole if it was ill-considered to support Ukraine.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
