NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg believes that the conditions for peace talks between Russia and Ukraine "have not yet been created." He announced this during an online speech at an event organized by the Financial Times.

“The conditions have not been created yet, because Russia has not shown signals that it is ready for negotiations while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. But neither I nor Brussels should decide this. Ukrainians must decide when the time comes for negotiations,” Stoltenberg said.

He also recalled that the alliance "supports Ukraine's right to self-defense as a sovereign state."

Earlier, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow sees no prospects for negotiations with Kyiv.

United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, on the contrary, believes that Moscow is not in the mood for diplomatic cooperation on Ukraine.

Prior to this, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley said that the North Atlantic Alliance did not see a serious readiness of Russian President Vladimir Putin to conduct meaningful negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
