The North Korean authorities have called on the people of the country to call their children more "patriotic" and "formidable" names. About it writes the publication The Mirror.

In particular, it is proposed to give children such names as Chung Sim (Loyalty), Chong Il (Pistol), Pok Il (Bomb) or Ui Song (Satellite).

The publication notes that the DPRK authorities have threatened to fine those who will not give children names with a patriotic meaning.

Radio Free Asia adds that North Koreans are complaining about demands to "rename" children who have already been given names. It even comes to the point that even adults are required to change names and surnames.

An RFA source said police are issuing notices to correct all surnames without final consonants. People with names that do not have a final consonant must add political meaning to their name by the end of the year "to meet revolutionary standards."

Earlier it was reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un banned the wearing of skinny jeans, certain body piercings and 15 haircuts. All this, in his opinion, symbolizes the "capitalist way of life."
