Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the European Union could find itself in a debt hole if it rashly supports Ukraine. He wrote about this on his Twitter.

He also made a refutation of the information that the tranche to Kyiv in the amount of 18 billion euros was vetoed by Budapest.

“This is disinformation. Hungary is ready to provide financial assistance to Ukraine on a bilateral basis. No veto, no blackmail,” Orban stressed.

The Hungarian Prime Minister also criticized the idea of solving this problem by increasing debt.

He stressed that if you follow the path of the debt society, you will not be able to turn back.

According to the politician, a strong future for Europe must be built on strong member states, and not on "huge piles of debt."

Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto denied reports that his country had blocked financial assistance to Ukraine from the EU.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
