Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the country has come out of hell and will seek to join the European Union, even if it does not.

He noted that according to the latest opinion polls, the Albanians are the most pro-European nation in Europe and, according to the prime minister, this is not a matter of naivety.

“But because we came out of the real hell. the real thing, with isolation and complete impossibility of communication with Europe,” Rama said at a press conference with the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the head of the European Council, Charles Michel.

According to him, the Albanians will remain loyal to the European Union even if the EU disappears.

“Even if we are the only member. It does not matter, we must move forward, this is the most important thing,” the Prime Minister stressed.

Albania became an EU candidate eight years ago.

In November, it was reported that the European Union intends to invest €28 million in the Western Balkans. The funds will be invested in energy, public and transport sectors, digital economy and ecology. The program will be implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Albania, Serbia and Montenegro.
