Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations (UN) Ronaldo Costa Filho called for a "deeper" understanding of the European security architecture, while taking into account the concerns of all countries. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

He stressed that there is nothing more urgent than a ceasefire in Ukraine between the parties without preconditions.

“We note the statements made by Western leaders in recent weeks about their desire to enter into dialogue with Russia in order to end hostilities. This is an important positive sign. These statements should result in the creation of a mechanism for conducting negotiations in a pragmatic, objective manner,” said the Brazilian envoy.

He believes that the end of the conflict may depend on a political decision. The diplomat argues that the time has come for a deeper understanding of the European regional security architecture.

Earlier, Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya, during a speech at a meeting of the UN Security Council, said that Russia's goal of making Ukraine a "normal neighborly state" would be achieved - peacefully or militarily.
