Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the declaration of sanctions against Russia will not change the position of Serbia. He announced this at a briefing, reports RIA Novosti.

“The only country that did not agree with the policy of sanctions was the Republic of Serbia. And don’t lie to you that there is some other one, it doesn’t exist, ”he said.

Earlier, Vucic said that through the territory of his country, no one will be able to circumvent the sanctions of the European Union (EU) against Russia. He announced this after signing a number of agreements with the EU on targeted financial assistance, which was attended by Commissioner for EU Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Oliver Varhelyi.

He noted that Serbia has a strong enough economy and financial sector to worry about itself, while the president stressed that with such EU support, his country "does not have big problems."

Serbian law enforcement agencies have already identified firms that are engaged in the re-export of sanctioned goods to Russia, the Serbian leader added.

Vučić also recalled that the EU is providing €165 million in budgetary assistance to his country.
