Chairman of the Council of the Volgograd Jewish Community Center Yael Ioffe, in an interview with Reedus, criticized the decision of the Supreme Court of Ukraine on non-recognition of the symbols of the SS division "Galicia" as Nazi. She stressed that no court has the right to rewrite history and freely interpret the facts.

“I am very fond of the memory of the war years. For us, this is not the distant, distant past. We have projects to work with former juvenile prisoners, with the children of military Stalingrad. These people are still alive, they are the bearers of memory. I don't think one stroke of the pen can rewrite history. It’s not human,” Ioffe said.

She recalled that the division "Galicia" is a tactical formation of the SS troops of Nazi Germany, consisting of Ukrainian volunteers who participated in World War II in 1943-1945. The unit was involved in punitive operations in the southeast of Poland.

Earlier, lawyer Vyacheslav Yakubenko, who defends the interests of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, wrote on social networks that the Supreme Court of Ukraine did not see belonging to Nazism in the symbols of the SS division "Galicia".
