In Ukraine, they wanted to melt the monument to Suvorov into a sculpture of Shevchenko

Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Larisa Bilozir proposed to melt the monument to the Russian commander Alexander Suvorov, planned for dismantling, into a sculpture of the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko. Her words are quoted by TASS.

“The monument to Suvorov is being dismantled in Tulchin. (...) My suggestion is not to keep it in a museum, but to melt it into a monument to Taras Grigoryevich Shevchenko, ”she said.

On the photo published by the deputy in social networks, you can see that a car with a crane is driving up to the monument. According to the agency, the city council of Tulchin in the Vinnitsa region decided to dismantle the monument to the commander on November 30.

On December 1, in the city of Izmail, Odessa region, a monument to Suvorov was dismantled. It was also reported that it was moved to the territory of a utility company. Earlier, the authorities of the Khmelnitsky region announced their intention to dismantle the monument to the Soviet writer Nikolai Ostrovsky. The head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Gamaly, said that the monument in Shepetivka was being prepared for the journey to "eternal" preservation.
