The statement of the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, that first of all it is necessary to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, is contrary to diplomatic principles and common sense, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Konstantin Dolgov said in an interview with the Vzglyad newspaper. He recalled that the lack of security guarantees for Russia and Donbas was the reason for the launch of a special military operation (SVO).

“Borrell's statements about security guarantees to Ukraine are absurd. It is impossible to give security guarantees to Ukraine without appropriate guarantees for Russia, since it was the lack of security guarantees for Russia and Donbass that caused the start of the NWO,” Dolgov noted.

He also expressed bewilderment about Borrell's words that the more Ukraine is destroyed, the higher its chances of joining the EU. “Only destroyed countries can join it?” the senator asked.

Earlier, Borrell, during a speech at a symposium organized by the Jacques Delors Institute in Paris, said that, in his opinion, first of all, it is necessary to deal with the issue of providing security guarantees for Ukraine, and only after that for Russia.
