The ministers of economy and finance of the EU member states failed to reach an agreement on a new macro-financial loan support package for Ukraine in the amount of up to 18 billion euros for 2023. This was announced by the Minister of Finance of the Czech Republic presiding in the Council of the EU Zbynek Stanyura, whose words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“Unfortunately, we were not able to accept the entire package,” Stanyura said, emphasizing that “the goal remains the same - to start transferring” funds to Ukraine “in early January.”

He also noted that the European Union will look for solutions to the current situation.

According to Politico, Hungary has blocked an agreement on an aid package to Ukraine. It is noted that an alternative solution would require EU countries to provide national budget guarantees, which in some cases require parliamentary approval, which may take some time.

Mamuka Mdinaradze, chairman of the Georgian Dream ruling faction in the Georgian parliament, said earlier that Georgia would not be able to help Ukraine with weapons.
