Hungarian Finance Minister Mihaly Varga said that the country is against the adoption of amendments that would allow Ukraine to receive €18 billion in aid in 2023. He announced this at a meeting of the European Council, Interfax reports.

“Hungary is against an amendment to the financial legislation,” he said.

Earlier it was reported that Hungary will continue to block the convening of the Ukraine-NATO Commission at the ministerial level until the Ukrainian authorities return their legal rights to the ethnic Hungarians of Transcarpathia. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó on the sidelines of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Romanian Bucharest.

According to Szijjarto, since the beginning of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, the Hungarian authorities have not raised the issue of the Transcarpathian Hungarians in relations with Kyiv - and so far they are not going to do so.

Since 2017, Hungary has been blocking meetings of the Ukraine-NATO Commission at the ministerial level, protesting against the adoption by the authorities in Kyiv of the law "On Education".
