The visit of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to the city of Slovyansk in the Donbass is connected with the requests of the citizens of the country. This opinion was expressed by Svetlana Zhurova, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, in an interview with Lenta.ru. She explained the political significance of such trips.

“The people of Ukraine demand sharper movements from him, to prove that he is actually there. He needs to periodically demonstrate that he is there. Moreover, for him this is his territory, he shows, including the West, they say, help further, ”reacted a member of the lower house of the Russian parliament.

Vladimir Zelensky arrived in Slovyansk on December 6. He published an appeal on his Telegram channel against the backdrop of the city stele. In the video, the head of state congratulated the servicemen on the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Traditionally, I meet this day on the front line with our fighters. Today we are in Donbass,” Zelensky said.

Slovyansk is located on the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) controlled by Kyiv. Earlier, Zelensky called the Donetsk direction the most difficult sector of the front for the Ukrainian army. We are talking about Artemovsk and Soledar.
