The brother of the ex-deputy of the Rada was sentenced to five years in prison in Ukraine

In Ukraine, a court sentenced the brother of ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Mikhail Tsarev to five years in prison on charges of terrorism. This was announced by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in its Telegram channel.

“The court found the defendant guilty under article 258 (“Terrorist act”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation was carried out by employees of the SBU of the Dnipropetrovsk region under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor's office, ”the agency said in a statement. According to the SBU, the court sentenced Tsarev to imprisonment for up to five years.

The special service clarified that during the searches, law enforcement officers found ammunition and weapons in a specially equipped cache, as well as TNT bombs for committing terrorist attacks, bank cards and passports of a Russian citizen. The SBU added that the convict asks to be included in the exchange lists for Ukrainian servicemen.

On May 19, it became known about the detention of Tsarev on suspicion of preparing sabotage at infrastructure facilities in the eastern regions of Ukraine. “He was sure of a quick victory for the Russian Federation,” the SBU said. According to the department, the man planned to arrange a diversion in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
