The founder of the startup Nothing allowed the total dominance of Apple in the smartphone market. This is reported by CNBC.

Commenting on the emergence of new smartphone brands in the US market, Carl Pei, the founder of the startup Nothing and OnePlus, drew attention to the strong position of Apple in the market. According to the entrepreneur, the IT giant has a chance to take 80 percent of the smartphone market.

"Maybe there will come a time when Apple has 80 percent of the market and there just isn't enough room left for Android-based manufacturers to keep going," Pei said. According to the entrepreneur, iPhones are very popular among representatives of Generation Z. Carl Pei also believes that Apple device users are strongly tied to the ecosystem thanks to services such as iMessage and AirDrop.

Pei also emphasized that suppliers working with Apple do not want to cooperate with other companies. As an example, the entrepreneur cited Foxconn, which did not agree to produce smartphones for Nothing due to financial risks.

In early December, investment bank Piper Sandler estimated Apple's financial losses due to the halt in smartphone production. According to experts, the lost profit of the American corporation will be about $8 billion by the end of the quarter.
