EU leaders may give Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) official candidate status for EU membership at a summit in Brussels on December 15, Bloomberg reports.
"This move, a key step on [BiH's] long road to membership in the bloc, which will require the approval of all 27 EU member states, will be a major boost for Bosnia," the article says.
According to the publication's sources, the decision was postponed by the EU countries "due to the slow progress" of Bosnia and Herzegovina in implementing reforms.
In October, the European Commission recommended that Bosnia and Herzegovina be granted EU candidate status. The country applied for EU membership in February 2016. In 2010, BiH received a NATO accession action plan.
