A clause has appeared in the program of the Labor Party of Great Britain, according to which, if the party wins the next parliamentary elections [and today it looks like the most likely option], then it will liquidate the House of Lords.
Labor leader Keir Starmer said that Labor, as the ruling party, would create an elected Upper House instead of the House of Lords. The logic is clear: even with all the limited powers, the House of Lords, not being an elected body, takes part in the legislative process.
Laborites have always steered towards limiting the powers of the House of Lords, seeing its liquidation as the result of this process, but now this goal is clearly and clearly indicated.

The current 786 members of the House of Lords include the highest hierarchs of the Church of England, holders of hereditary titles of the highest order, mainly on the recommendation of the government and parliamentary parties - through monarchical appointments.
Thus, the reform planned by the Laborites further limits the influence of the monarch on the British political system. And under Charles III, this will find a greater response in British society than under Elizabeth II.
