French President Emmanuel Macron was outraged after a journalist asked about possible blackouts in winter, TASS reports.

The French leader, during a conversation with reporters upon arrival at the EU-Western Balkans summit in the Albanian capital, called for an end to such reasoning and to start saving electricity.

“This debate is absurd. Everything I've been hearing for the past few hours is absurd,” Macron said.

According to him, the role of state authorities and state organizations is not to spread fears, but to work to provide the country with energy.

He also pointed out the responsibility of everyone in this situation and called for "energy sobriety", which is not about "scaring people with different scenarios."

“Stop it all. We are a great country, we have a great energy model, we will survive this winter despite the war,” the French leader said.

Everyone has to do their job, he says: the energy corporation EDF to support the power plants, the government to plan, and everyone else to maintain energy sobriety.

He had previously expressed hope for a mild winter and French economy.
