Russia and Turkmenistan will sign a solid package of documents on trade and economic cooperation between the two states, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during the opening of negotiations with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov, TASS reports.

According to Lavrov, a meeting will be held on December 7 under the leadership of the co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation.

The Russian minister said that a solid package of documents had been prepared, and this once again underlines the concrete and substantive nature of contacts with Turkmenistan, which "always end with agreements that promote the development" of both countries and interaction between them.

"Turkmenistan is our close friend, strategic partner," said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to him, Moscow pays special attention to the development of bilateral relations with this state, cooperation at the regional and international levels.

Earlier, the ex-head of Turkmenistan and the president of Azerbaijan noted the intensification of cooperation between the countries.
