A Russian presidential spokesman commented on urging the US to achieve a "long-term peace, not a fictitious truce" between Kyiv and Moscow.

“The fact that the outcome of what is happening should be a just and lasting peace is one can agree with this. But as for the prospects for some kind of negotiations, we do not see them at the moment. We have repeatedly spoken about this, ”said the Kremlin spokesman.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said at The Wall Street Journal's CEO Summit that the Ukrainian crisis would most likely be resolved through peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. According to the diplomat, the United States wants to achieve "a long-term peace, not a fictitious truce."

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
