The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Maria Zakharova, commented on the decision of Latvia to cancel the broadcasting license of the Dozhd TV channel (the organization is included by the Ministry of Justice in the list of foreign agents).

The diplomat wrote on her Telegram channel that she had collected quotes from representatives of NATO and the US State Department, the White House about “how bad it is to prevent Rain from working normally”

Zakharova stressed that “nothing needs to be re-invented”, just instead of the word “Russia”, you can insert “Latvia” into your recent statements.

“I give for free, use the State Department for health,” the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry mocked.

So, as an example, Zakharova cited a statement by US State Department spokesman Ned Price that Americans had allegedly seen reports that "the Russian government is silencing independent media such as Ekho Moskvy and the Dozhd TV channel."

Earlier, on December 6, Ivars Abolins, chairman of the National Electronic Media Council of Latvia, announced that a decision had been made to annul the broadcasting license of the Dozhd TV channel.
