Lithuanian citizens are used in the world for forced labor, sexual exploitation, fictitious marriages and fraud. This was stated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania, reports Sputnik Lithuania.

The Interior Ministry stressed that Lithuania is a resource, transit and destination country in the context of human trafficking.

“Lithuanian citizens are used in foreign countries for human trafficking, criminal acts, forced labor, sexual exploitation, fictitious marriages, fraud and begging,” said Agne Bilotaite, Minister of the Interior.

According to her, in Lithuania, third-country nationals are exploited in forced labor in inhuman conditions, and “women are subjected to sexual exploitation in massage parlors without the right to choose.”

Bilotite added that with regard to refugees from Ukraine who arrived in Lithuania, the Baltic Republic immediately took all necessary preventive measures to protect them from the dangers of human trafficking.

In April, the Lithuanian Prosecutor General's Office reported that a pre-trial investigation was underway into the possible trafficking of children from Ukraine.

Earlier, Lithuania reported that the country had practically exhausted the possibilities for receiving and accommodating new refugees from Ukraine.
