President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the people of Finland on Independence Day and expressed regret that the country's authorities had abandoned their commitment to neutrality, TASS reports citing the press service of the head of state.

Lukashenka noted that Finland has achieved impressive success in the social, economic, scientific and technical fields. According to him, the traditional commitment of the republic to neutrality and peaceful coexistence in the region contributed to this to a large extent.

“It is with great regret that we observe the departure of official Helsinki on far-fetched grounds from this line, which has already had a very negative impact on the quality of life of the Finnish people,” the Belarusian leader noted.

Despite all the information fakes, as he noted, Belarus has been and remains a reliable partner that has never created problems for its neighbors. Moreover, according to him, Belarus throughout its history has been a donor of stability and non-conflict cooperation.

Earlier, the Finnish Foreign Ministry reported that the Finnish government had submitted a draft law on NATO membership to parliament.
