US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the creation of some kind of international tribunal for Ukraine "is on the table." He made the corresponding statement at the conference of The Wall Street Journal WSJ CEO Summit.

“It is very important that there is responsibility for what is happening,” the diplomat said.

According to him, it is important that Kyiv "could, if necessary, be held accountable for these things."

“We also support the efforts of the International Criminal Court to gather evidence and information. There are discussions about some kind of independent court, the establishment of a tribunal. It's all on the table," Blinken pointed out.

Last week, the French Foreign Ministry announced the start of work on the creation of a tribunal that will investigate Russia's actions in Ukraine.

Alexei Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, called the idea of creating this tribunal "another political demarche."

Currently, a special operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continues in Ukraine. It was announced on February 24 by Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to him, the purpose of military action is to demilitarize the neighboring country and denazify its authorities.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
