The South Korean authorities may name the DPRK and its armed forces as an adversary in the new version of the white paper. This is reported by Yonhap agency, citing sources.

“The wording in which the North Korean regime and its armed forces are called the enemy was included in the draft white paper,” the agency’s source said.

This document is published every two years.

Earlier it was reported that the General Staff of the Korean People's Army of the DPRK gave the order to open fire from artillery towards the sea in response to the actions of the South Korean military.

According to the agency, the armed forces of South Korea have been active near the border.

Prior to this, Yonhap, citing the Committee of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Korea, also reported that the North Korean military fired about 130 artillery shots towards the Japanese and Yellow Seas.

Seoul noted that these actions of the DPRK violate the inter-Korean military agreement of 2018 on reducing tensions in the border areas.
