US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told The Wall Street Journal WSJ CEO Summit that the US is in intense competition with China but does not want conflict with that country.

“We are in a tense rivalry. We do not want it to turn into a conflict,” he said.

According to Blinken, Washington believes it is important to look for ways to cooperate with Beijing on common issues.

Earlier, the publication Politico, citing the heads of defense departments and the American authorities, reported that due to the military assistance provided to Ukraine, the United States does not have enough weapons to contain China.

US Department of Defense and defense industry officials said the stockpiles are considered critical to deterring China and potential adversaries for years to come.

Prior to that, US First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said the US administration accepts the "potential" of Beijing's military action against Taiwan and is making efforts to prevent it.
