Journalist Ted Snyder wrote in an article for The Responsible Statecraft that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's speech on the Minsk agreements, which the head of state delivered at the G20 summit in Indonesia, contradicts the history of Russian-Ukrainian relations.

In his opinion, the words of the Ukrainian leader, uttered by him at this event, “although they were diplomatically precisely chosen for his target audience, do not accurately reflect history.”

“It was not Russia who used the time provided by the agreement to build up its forces before violating it. It was Ukraine,” said the author of the publication.

He also recalled the statement of the ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko that Kyiv needed these agreements with Moscow only to play for time.

Earlier, Poroshenko spoke with Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus, who called him on behalf of former US Ambassador to Russia McFaul.

During the conversation, the former Ukrainian president called the Minsk agreements "a very talentedly written document." Poroshenko said that he "needed these agreements" in order to "get at least 4.5 years" to "form the Ukrainian armed forces, build the Ukrainian economy and train the Ukrainian military together with NATO to create the best armed forces in Eastern Europe" .
