The Supreme Court of Ukraine ruled that the symbols of the SS division "Galicia" are not Nazi. The Strana edition writes about this in its Telegram channel.

The publication refers to the lawyer Vyacheslav Yakubenko, representing the interests of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. He wrote on Facebook (a social network banned in the Russian Federation; owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned) wrote that the court "put an end to a long epic initiated five years ago."

The Supreme Court reversed the decision of the court of first instance, which found illegal the institute's refusal to recognize the division's insignia as falling under the law banning Nazi and communist symbols.

In April, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Ukrainians wearing stripes and other symbols of the SS division "Galicia" on their clothes as scum.

The 14th SS Volunteer Infantry Division "Galicia", or "Galicia", was recruited from Ukrainian volunteers and took an active part in the battles against the Soviet army. In the summer of 1944, the division tried to hold back the advance of the Red Army near the city of Brody, as a result of which it was completely defeated by units of the 1st Ukrainian Front. It is authentically known about the participation of the fighters of the unit in a number of war crimes, including those committed against the civilian population.
