White House National Security Council strategic communications coordinator John Kirby said the US had seen media reports of Ukraine's attempt to strike Russian airfields, but did not have detailed information on the incident. He announced this at a briefing to reporters, reports RIA Novosti.

“We have seen some media reports about this, but we do not have any detailed information that would allow us to present our vision of what happened,” a White House spokesman said.

On the evening of December 5, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that on Monday morning, in order to disable Russian long-range aircraft, Ukraine attempted to strike Soviet-made UAVs at the military airfields "Dyagilevo" in the Ryazan region and "Engels" in the Saratov region. The drones were shot down by air defense systems, but as a result of falling debris, three Russian soldiers were killed and four more were injured.
