Putin extended for a year a ban on transactions with assets of unfriendly foreigners in a number of areas

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree extending the ban on transactions with shares of foreigners from unfriendly countries in strategic companies of the Russian Federation, some banks and other enterprises until the end of 2023. The document is published on the portal of legal information.

This decree amends Putin's previous decree of August 5 "On the application of special economic measures in the financial and fuel and energy sectors in connection with the unfriendly actions of certain foreign states and international organizations."

The new decree will be valid until December 31, 2023 inclusive. In the previous document, the validity of the restrictions was calculated for the period until December 31, 2022.

The document establishes a ban on any transactions that change the ownership structure of Russian companies, their authorized capital and the established procedure for the implementation of investment projects. It also states that only the president can authorize any deal that falls under the restrictions by special decision.
