Russian ambassador summoned to Canadian Foreign Office

Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov was summoned to the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the topic of the conversation has not yet been disclosed. The diplomat told RIA Novosti about this.

“They call again today at the Foreign Ministry. By 16.00 (00.00 Moscow time Tuesday),” the ambassador said, noting that the topic of the upcoming conversation is still unknown.

According to the agency, the last time Stepanov was summoned to the Canadian Foreign Ministry last week was due to a post on the embassy's Twitter account with a crossed-out rainbow flag and the caption that the family consists of a man, a woman and children.

Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in response to the fact that many Canadians believe that the causes of high inflation are not external factors, but the actions of the Trudeau government, said that the causes of inflation in the country are the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's actions in Ukraine.

Prior to this, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly, in an interview with The Guardian, said that NATO was determined to support Ukraine in this "difficult" winter. According to her, Russian strikes on the Ukrainian energy system and infrastructure facilities only strengthen the support of the allies.
