Western journalists published photos of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station (HES), taken a week ago. They show how one of the locks passes water. Journalists concluded that the dam could have been damaged before reports of its undermining.

The New York Times investigative journalist Christian Tribert posted on Twitter May 28 satellite images of the Kakhovskaya HPP dam showing that the dam's sluice section was leaking water even then, while the June 5 image shows that the outflow of water has increased.

Triebert said the footage could indicate that the dam had been damaged at least a week before it was reported to have ruptured. The Washington Post (WP) and Financial Times (FT) journalists Evan Hill and Christopher Miller stated the same.
