Belarus did not receive enough votes in the UN General Assembly to grant the country a seat as a non-permanent member of the organization's Security Council for 2024-2025, Slovenia went to membership. It is reported by TASS.
It is noted that 153 states voted for Slovenia, and 38 for Belarus. To win, the country needs to gain at least two-thirds of the votes of all 193 members of the General Assembly.
In addition, Algeria, Guyana, Sierra Leone and South Korea were elected non-permanent members of the Security Council on a non-alternative basis.
