President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the plans of Western countries to transfer a “powerful” number of F-16 fighters to Kyiv. The statement of the head of state was made at a press conference broadcast by the Public TV channel.

“I have already received an understanding from some European partners regarding the quantity. It is powerful,” the president said, adding that he received the promise from Western leaders during his visit to Moldova.

However, Zelensky added that the country does not have the infrastructure to receive fighter jets. According to him, it makes no sense to prepare it before the conclusion of agreements on deliveries. “It will be built and prepared,” the head of state promised.

Earlier, Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yuriy Sak said that the country expects to receive about 40-50 F-16 fighters from Western allies. According to him, they will help "protect their skies", since now the Ukrainian military has "nothing to stop" Russian aircraft.
