The Chinese company Xiaomi has begun work on a new folding smartphone. This was reported by the well-known Weibo channel Digital Chat Station.

According to the declassified information of an insider, Xiaomi was about to enter the market of devices that fold vertically. The company decided to start developing a device to compete in this segment with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, Motorola Razr 40 Ultra and other clamshells.

The specialist also found out that the smartphone, the release date of which is not disclosed, will receive a very thin and light body. At the same time, the product, which is tentatively called Xiaomi Mix Flip, may not go outside of China and remain a local exclusive.

According to the authors of Digital Chat Station, the new device will in many ways resemble the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, which was introduced in August 2022. The device received two displays - an internal 8.02-inch and an external 6.56-inch screens. Also, the flagship was equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 12 gigabytes of RAM, a triple camera with lenses with a resolution of 50, 8 and 13 megapixels, a battery with a capacity of 4500 milliamp-hours.

At the beginning of summer, Motorola released new folding smartphones of the Razr 40 series. The devices received two displays, a Snapdragon series chip, and a dual camera.
