UN Secretary General António Guterres said that he considers the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station a threat to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. He told reporters about this, reports Reuters.

“This is a threat to the already endangered Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe,” he said.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the G7 countries and the European Union to impose new sanctions on Russia after the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also proposed to convene an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the explosion of the hydroelectric power station, which the department considered "a terrorist act against Ukraine's critical infrastructure."

On the night of June 6, in the Kherson region, the upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was destroyed near Novaya Kakhovka. Dozens of settlements, including Kherson and New Kakhovka, began to be flooded with water. Water flooded 600 houses in three settlements of the Novokahovsky district.
