Farit Khoja, permanent representative of Albania, the chairman of the UN Security Council, told reporters that a meeting of the UN Security Council on the breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station would take place in the near future. It is reported by TASS.

“Yes, there will be a meeting, but probably not today,” the Albanian diplomat said.

Earlier, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, informed journalists that Russia would convene a meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

On the morning of June 6, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry proposed to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council in connection with the collapse of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric dam.

On the night of June 6, in the Kherson region, the upper part of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station was destroyed near Novaya Kakhovka. Dozens of settlements, including Kherson and New Kakhovka, began to be flooded with water. The evacuation of the population has been launched.
