Ukraine requested a meeting of the UN Security Council after the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in the Security Council.

According to him, the time and date of the meeting have not yet been determined.

Earlier it was reported that three settlements were completely flooded in the Novokakhovka urban district after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. This was stated by the head of the district Vladimir Leontiev.

He said that about 900 people had already been evacuated from coastal villages.

Also, the authorities of the Kherson region announced the evacuation of the population of Novokahovsky, Golopristansky and Aleshkinsky districts after the breakthrough of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station.

Prior to this, the head of the administration of Nova Kakhovka, Vladimir Leontiev, said that the worst possible outcome due to the destruction at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station had passed.
