The Alder multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), which could have been attacked at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station (HPP), has a very high power. Military expert Yuri Knutov spoke about this in a conversation with Lenta.ru. He named the main technical features of this weapon.

Alder is a multiple launch rocket system like our Tornadoes. The missiles are powerful enough, the impact is destructive.

“This is not HIMARS in terms of hitting accuracy, but in terms of destructive power it is an order of magnitude more than the same HIMARS or other weapons directly. It had to be launched from a short range in order to ensure the accuracy of the defeat. The locks had already been damaged before, but now the impact with rockets of lesser accuracy, but with greater power, has led to the fact that the locks could not stand it, the water level has risen, ”he explained.

The manufacturer of Alder systems is the Ukrainian company Artem. Their mass production began in 2018.

According to representatives of the emergency services, when hitting the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, Alder was presumably used.
